Sustainability

We stock the alternatives and we try to describe them honestly. A material that composts only in an industrial process is not the same as one that composts in a hedge, and pretending otherwise is how a customer gets caught out by their own waste contractor.

What we stock

Bagasse and moulded fibre — containers, trays and lids made from the pulp left after sugar cane is pressed. Home-compostable, and it takes heat better than paper.
Compostable PLA and CPLA — cutlery, straws and cold cups made from plant starch. Industrial composting, not a home heap, and we say so on the product page.
Recycled paper and board — napkins, cups, bags and carrier boxes with a recycled content we can name.
Reusable lines — where a reusable item is the better answer, we say that too, even when the disposable is the one that sells.

How to choose

Start from what happens to the item after it is used: a bin collected as general waste, a commercial food-waste stream, or your customer's own hands. The right material follows from that, not from the word "eco" on the box. If you tell us which stream you have, we will point at the lines that belong in it.

Where we are honest about the trade-offs

Compostable usually costs more per unit and has a shorter shelf life than the plastic it replaces. Some lines only work in a commercial composting facility, and some are lined, which means they cannot be recycled as paper. We would rather say that on the product page than let you find out from your waste contractor.
